Merkur lehrt Amor zu lesen und zu schreiben/Mercury teaches Amor to read and write
Der Fächer zeigt im Mittelmedaillon vermutlich Juno (auf Wolke, mit Diadem), die streng Amor deutet, den Pfeil wegzulegen. Links zwei Amoretten, einer davon voll blauer Tintenflecke, rechts Merkur, der einem weiteren Amor aus einem Buch lesen lässt. Die Seitenmedaillons zeigen schön arrangierte Musikinstrumente. Stilisierte Vögel umrahmen das Medaillon. Das Perlmuttgestell zeigt abwechselnd eingeritzt Amor und einen Phönix. Italien(?), ca. 1760.
The fan shows in its main cartouche Juno (seated on a cloud, with a diadem in her hair), telling Amor to put down his arrow. Left, two amorini try to read what obviously one of them wrote - he is full of blue ink. Right, Mercury teaches another Amor to read. The reserves are decorated with nicely arranged music instruments. Stylized birds frame the cartouche. Italy (?), approx.1760.
