The EMF together with the LEKTOR partners presented the LEXELERATOR
at this workshop, on 7 May 2008 in Brussels. The event was organized
in collaboration with ULYS,
a Belgian-based lawfirm specialized in Internet and e-business law,
and UEAPME,
Umbrella association of European SME organizations.
Speakers from legal professions, academia, European institutions,
SME organizations and regional representatives gave a view on the
usability of tools like the Lexelerator for the legal knowledge
exchange in e-business. The event was enhanced by international
participants of the LEKTOR team from Chile and the USA that presented
case studies from their respective regions.
"The Lexelerator is an evolving and sustainable tool which
matches current and future needs to help SMEs identifying legal
information to participate in the e-economy. The international dimension
adds to its usability and prepares SMEs for future challenges, such
as the "Internet of Things". Gerald Santucci, head of
Unit, DG Information Society, European Commission
"If you want to stand on this place you need to move a lot"
E. de Aresti G. quoting Alice in Wonderland with regard to SMEs
in e-business.
"Knoweldge society and collaborative intelligence create a
new digital divide: Those who know where to access information and
those who don't", A. Meiszner, SPI/Open University
"You can only trust – and create trust – if you
know the rules of the game. The
Lexelerator helps to convey the basic legal knowledge everybody
active in anything 'e-' should know", Kim Fisher, Prologue
International, Silicon Valley
