Fendel gibt eine genaue Beschreibung dieses Fächertyps in ihrem
Buch über Zelluloid-Fächer (Seite 51): "René de
Garam aus Bouches-du-Rhône in Frankreich patentierte diesen genialen
Stielfächer am 6. Februar 1924". Die Zelluloid-Scheibe ist
auf einem mit kariertem Stoff überzogenen Stahl-Griff befestigt,
meist in Form eines Katzenkopfes. Hier hingegen verdeckt ein Zelluloid-Stück
in Muschelform die Befestigung. Auf der Vorderseite ist ein Frauenporträt
aufgedruckt, das der auch in Italien hochgefeierten Opernsängerin
Maria Malibran ähnelt (eigentlich María Felicitas García,
1808-1836; verehrt von u.a. Rossini, Chopin, Mendelsohn und Liszt; starb
an den Folgen eines Reitunfalls; auf dem Friedhof Laeken in Brüssel
begraben; in Venedig erinnert das "Teatro Malibran" an sie;
siehe Porträt unten).
Auf der Rückseite ist in Goldfarbe eine Werbung für die "Anglo-American
Supply Stores" in Florenz gedruckt. Interessant ist ein kleines
Siegel links unten, das den Drucker nennt: Cellograf in Mailand. Nach
1924.

Fendel gives an exact description of this type of fan in her book
on celluloid fans (page 51): "René de Garam of Bouches-du-Rhône,
France, patented the ingenious fixed fan on February 6, 1924".
The celluloid disc is fixed on a metal rod covered in tartan. Usually,
the fiaxtion depicts a cat's head. In this case, the fixation is hidden
by a celluloid scallop. On the recto, a female portrait is printed that
ressembles the acclaimed opera singer Maria Malibran (born María
Felicitas García, 1808-1836; venerated by Rossini, Chopin, Mendelsohn
and Liszt among many others, she died following a riding accident. She
is buried at the Laeken cemetary in Brussels. The "Teatro Malibran"
in Venice has been named after her; see portrait below).
The verso is an advertisement for "Ango-American Supply Stores"
in Florence, printed in gold. A small label on the left side is interesting
as it indicates the printer: Cellograf in Milan. After 1924.
